In Ohio for President Donald Trump’s rally, the vice president made a flying visit to a branch of Skyline Chili where he shook hands with employees and patrons. But it seemed he was there only to press the flesh, not eat any, as many noted that in the half-hour visit to the Fort Wright branch on Thursday, the only thing he consumed was a Diet Pepsi. Restaurant manager Hunter Beard described the visit as “a great experience” while customer Mike Staats said he had a “really nice conversation” with Pence, Cincinnati....

A couple had stopped to fill up at a gas station in Raeford at around 11 p.m. when two masked men stole their car at gunpoint and drove off with their two children in the back, according to Hoke County Sheriff’s Office, which opened an investigation into armed robbery and kidnapping. The children—whose ages were not released—were able to get out of the stolen car a short distance away and were shaken but unharmed, according to North Carolina TV station WRAL....

Cyclones wide receiver Jake Rhoads, Paul’s son, was arrested late Saturday night for public intoxication, according to the Ames Tribune. Additionally, defensive tackle Terry Ayeni was arrested early Sunday morning for disorderly conduct. According to USA Today, Bushrod will sign a one-day contract with the Saints and announce his retirement during their preseason finale against the Dolphins on Thursday night. A fourth-round pick by the Saints in 2007, Bushrod played his first six seasons in New Orleans, making the Pro Bowl in 2011 and 2012. He started 14 games at left tackle for the Saints’ Super Bowl championship team in 2009. After stints with the Bears and Dolphins, Bushrod re-signed with the Saints before last season, was cut, then re-signed again, ultimately playing in 11 games with six starts....

Memphis police are set to release the video of the fatal beating on Friday after 6 p.m. local Tennessee time. Nichols was a 29-year-old Black man who died three days after a traffic stop led to a violent arrest. His death has provoked outrage across the country and the new footage, which officials have described as brutal, is only expected to fuel public anger. Five officers with the Memphis Police Department, who are also all Black, were fired in connection to Nichols’ death after an internal investigation last week....
