U.S. Largest Health Insurer Reports 6.7B In Profits Amid Covid As N.Y. Cuts State Rates
UnitedHealth Group reported in July its profits from the year’s second quarter totaled $6.7 billion, a 97 percent increase in revenue reported during the same three month period in 2019. Operating earnings drastically increased because of the “temporary impact of deferred care, net of COVID-19 treatment costs and the initial impact of a decelerating economy,” according to a company press release.
