There was speculation as to whether former Cavs coach David Blatt, who was fired last Friday, would coach one final game this season. He guided Cleveland to an Eastern Conference-best 30-11 record (the Cavs are 2-1 under Lue). It looks like the NBA wanted to avoid a potentially awkward reunion between Blatt and LeBron James.
Instead, Lue, who some suspect was hired merely as part of a compromise to appease James’ camp, will coach the East.
Cavs players, for their part, didn’t seem surprised by the announcement.
